GOOD NEWS!
Thursday, September 28th, 2006Lots of crazy stuff going on as of late. Biggest news is that we FINALLY got the first round of doll prototypes in from the factory. Wish so bad that I could post pics, but I’m worried I might not be allowed. BUT let me tell you, for a first pass they look GREAT!! Way better than I expected! Everyone I know who has dealt with Chinese factories manufacturing their personal artwork has told me to brace myself for the worst, but I guess I got lucky. This is especially good news because up until now, the toy company I’m working with has had a really tough time finding a factory that would quote a reasonable price, and we were all getting really worried that we wouldn’t get them done in time for the holiday season, and it looks like we will!!
This new developement has created a new assignment. Now I have to finish the entire line of dolls AND their smaller, 18″ counterparts– by the end of November!!! That way, the entire line will be ready for presentation at trade shows (like Toy Fair) so that (hopefully) the Galaxy Girl dolls will be available in more stores in Spring of ‘07. CRAZINESS!!
So in the next several updates, expect to see the progress on that. Lots and lots and lots of sewing and embroidering and stenciling. I still got drawings to do, so maybe even some of those.
For starters, here are the final two faces— now all the GGs have a face (if not a body.) Neptune and Mercury:
And here is the progress on the little dolls. Lots o’ tiny faces….
I just completed a stenciling marathon, and finally found the perfect material for custom stencils. Stay tuned for the next post for more details!
Over and out,
