Boring post

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

I hate to bore everyone in the universe, but my current project is another Mars doll. But since I try to post as often as I can, I thought I’d offer you a little inside look at my doll making process… literally.

Observe: Mars inside out!!!

…and un-stuffed!

Well, it’s something anyway. To see her finished, just check the previous post. The next doll is Venus, so that should be a nice change of pace. Also, I’m working on patterns for a style guide. I’m having a REALLY rough time of it. I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing, and no money to hire a more savvy graphic designer than myself, so I will continue to struggle through it. I’ll show you as soon as I come up with some stuff that isn’t completely embarrassing.

Fin!

Mars is done!! She will be heading off to her new home very soon. (sob!) It’s still hard to let them go!

She’s the fourth Mars I’ve made and every time I make a new one, I make adjustments, so they keep improving. This one has the cleanest paint job on her legs, and I ran out of the fabric I used to use for her hair, so this silk is new and, I think, better. I’m going to be numbering them from now on, right there on the bottom of the foot.

Time to move on to the next doll, who is… another Mars. She’s awful popular these days. I’ll have to come up with some other stuff to post so as not to bore you all.

Mission to Mars (doll)

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Making progress on the new Mars doll. Her bod is assembled. You can see the magnets on her face that will soon be her earrings. Next steps are the embroidery on the little wheels and the clothes. Click on the pics to see the detail in the stitching.

Short post, huh?
